Industrial Building Water Transfer System

Existing Design of a 2 x 22kW Star-Delta System

This is an old industrial building, about 30 over years old. Their control panel as shown above controls two 22kW pumps to pump water from the basement water tank to the rooftop water tank located at 10 storeys.

Currently, the existing system is unable to work, and the building operator has to manually run the pump every morning to ensure that there is sufficient water in the roof tank for the building needs.

After visiting the site, we managed to find out the problem. Due to voltage drop, the water level sensor (electrode type) at the roof tank is unable to send the signal back down to the control panel. Also because this building is quite old, the cable insulation decreases over time and therefore results in higher voltage drop.

Proposed New Design with Level Controller Panel

Our proposed new design comes with an additional level controller panel placed at the rooftop near the water level sensor (electrode). The new transfer system panel at basement will receive the 230VAC signal from the level controller panel and call water when the roof tank is at low level.

In this way, the problem of voltage drop to the water level sensor can be completely negated.

Our new panel also comes with a tower light and an alarm bell. The tower light is installed outside the pump room so that the building operator can see green led when the pump is running and amber led when there is a system fault. Our customer is very pleased with this new tower light as it makes his job much more convenient.
